Migraines: An Unorthodox Remedy
September 8, 2010
There are many homespun migraine remedies out there and some of them work for some people and others work for other folk. There is another treatment for the migraine that is slightly unorthodox. And that one is hypnosis.
Hypnosis is not just for entertainment or to amuse the public at large. It is being used successfully for the easing of migraine pain. And sometimes this hypnosis can even relieve the symptoms of migraines like sensitivity to sound or light and vomiting.
Sounds ridiculous right? Well the goal of the hypnotist is to lead the patient into a trancelike state so they can get into the subconscious mind. The therapist will then place small, gentle suggestions into their mind that will help them manage the pain by changing the way they perceive it.
Some of the people that have tried this particular remedy enjoy it so much that they decide either on their own or with the aid of the therapist to get into self hypnosis.
This kind of migraine treatment is excellent for those who have not yet found the kind of migraine remedies that helps them ease their pain. It also is a great option for those who do not like to add more medication to their routine or cannot use certain prescriptions for one reason or another.
A word of caution here. This is not some kind of magic. It is an interactive process that is taking place between therapist and patient.
Also don’t undertake this treatment unless you use a certified hypnotherapist. Then and only then you can decide if this is the migraine remedy you have been looking for.
